Prerequisites

Instructor Development Course (AI and OWSI)
• Be certified as a PADI Divemaster or hold a leadership level certification with another recreational diver training organization. (Renewed for the current year).
• Be at least 18 years old
• Be fit for diving and submit a Medical Statement for a diving medical examination conducted within the past 12 months. A licensed physician must sign the form and state that the participant is fit for diving. The physician signing the form may not be
the applicant.
• Have been a certified diver for at least six months and have completed and logged at least 60 open water scuba dives and have documentation of experience in deep, night and navigation diving. Note: to attend an IE the instructor candidate must have at least
100 logged dives.
• Submit documentation of any equivalent certification for entry level, advanced, rescue and leadership-level issued by another recreational diver training organization. (non PADI certifications)
• If not a PADI Divemaster, successfully complete the PADI Divemaster course diver rescue skills assessment.

Master Scuba Diver Trainer
To apply for Master Scuba Diver Trainer rating, an individual must:
• Be a renewed PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor.
• Be certified as a PADI Specialty Instructor for five or more specialty rating
• Have issued at least 25 PADI diver certifications.

IDC Staff Instructor Course
To enroll in a PADI IDC Staff Instructor course, an individual must:
1. Be renewed and in Teaching status as a PADI Instructor for the current year.
2. Hold a PADI Master Scuba Diver trainer rating.
3. Agree to conduct all levels of diver training consistent with the standards and
philosophy outlined in the PADI Instructor Manual.
4. Agree to use the PADI System and components in its entirety.
